kinodb's Design View enables
you to see your database structure as you design it. It's much
more than a diagram: as you create or change each table you
can enter data into it and test its relationships, data validation
rules and so on. An database design may be made up of any number
of diagrams, with individual tables being present within any
number of diagrams. |
 |
You can also view any Design View
diagram as a conventional Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD)
- this format will be familiar to anyone involved in relational
database design. |
 |
The project palette (to the right of the screen in this picture)
enables you to navigate between the diagrams in your application,
to drag and drop existing tables into the current diagram and
to create new tables and fields based on templates. Table and
field definitions can be copied and pasted, and table structures
that you wish to reuse can be copied to template definitions. |

Reporting is easy with kinodb.
This picture shows a report which details the kinodb definition of
an application table. It contains data from many different tables, and
content of each row in the main table is driven by the data. The data
used to populate the little grids which contains Yes and No all comes from
a single record. The report generator
is fully integrated with kinodb, and because kinodb already
understands all of the relationships in the database, it's incredibly
quick - this report took under half an hour to produce. Reports
are standard HTML files and can include pictures where required. |
