Financial Asset Management
Our customer is a financial asset management company with offices around the globe. This organisation employs over 1,000 staff, all of whom have access to the system. They perform fund and portfolio management for private and institutional clients.
kinodb's web-based deployment makes it ideal for the support of such a geographically diverse organisation. Every member of staff, wherever located, has access to whichever of the functions below are appropriate to their role.
Corporate Directory
Used to maintain details of all staff, this system is used for general directory lookups and provides the basis for the other HR-related functions detailed below. It is notable in that any user may update the details for any record in the system, with changes being notified to, and queued for approval by, one of a number of authorised users. This self-service approach ensures that the directory information is kept up to date at all times, improving the usefulness of the system and minimising administrative overhead.
Personnel assessment system
This is a sophisticated HR management system that supports the organisation's annual staff appraisal process. It allows self-appraisals, manager and co-worker appraisals to be performed and tracked. At all times, it ensures that the information entered is visible only to those people entitled to see that appraisal, depending on its status and the status of the annual appraisal cycle. This system uses kinodb's single-key data encryption mechanism to ensure that assessment details are not visible to IT users who may have access to the underlying database tables.
Staff location / holiday entitlements system
A self-service application that allows individuals to record their absences It also tracks holiday entitlements and holiday taken. As different holiday entitlements and rules (carry-over into the next year etc.) apply for the various countries in which the company operates, this system greatly reduces the burden on the global HR function. It also ensures compliance with local employment law and regulatory requirements such as the UK Financial Services Authority regulations on contiguous holiday periods.
Valuation error reporting system
This system fulfils regulatory requirements regarding the process to be followed in the event of an incorrect fund valuation being made. The system maintains a workflow managing details of the error, regulatory notifications, potential compensation events and so on.
Facilities management system
A complete facilities management application supporting all types of facilities work - from ordering a new desk to refurbishing an entire office building. The system maintains details of suppliers, projects, quotations, purchase orders, progress of work, contact records and so on. It provides reports on costs at Project or Site level and also allows ad-hoc analysis of this data by exporting it to MS Excel.
Other
kinodb's Access Control List (ACL) functionality is used to ensure that specific items of very sensitive data remain completely secure.
